BEFORE & AFTER sUGARING

What to know or do before scheduling your appointment?

Lemons_edited.jpg
Who's a good candidate for Sugaring?

Everyone, unless allergic to lemon or sugar! Sugaring is great for all skin types. Because it's only adhering to your hair and dead skin making it less traumatizing to the skin as if you were to wax.

Does it hurt? I heard it's less painful than waxing!

We are pulling hair out of your pore from the root so unfortunately it will be uncomfortable. Typically if you keep up with your sessions every four weeks the pain will reduce each time! This is because when you come every four weeks your three hair stages are getting closer together and the hair is growing in at its finest thickness (even thinner than waxing).

What shouldn't I do before my appointment?

Sugar can adhere to the hairs better when you have a little bit of dead skin cells, so refrain from exfoliating the areas you plan on sugaring up to 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. However, prior to the 24 hours continue to exfoliate every other day; we don't want your pores to be fully clogged with dead skin leaving the root of the hair unable to be removed. Do NOT apply any oils and/or lotions the day of, this will create the sugar to possibly not stick. If your doing your underarms do not apply deodorant.

Should I trim before my appointment?

No! Leave it to the professionals. Sometimes people trim the hair short and we will have to reschedule you for another time.  If the sugar cannot remove your hair after three tries, your service provider will ask you to come back when it's longer. Other places may remove your hair anyways; At Sugar Me Clean Beauty Lounge our clients are our number one priority. Going over areas to many times will end up leaving your skin irritated and bruised. We do this for your safety and comfort.

How long should my hair be?

It's best to let your hair grow 1.5 - 2 weeks before coming in, especially your first time. When the hair is to short and thick, it can cause your first time to hurt worse. This is because if it's to short the sugar will have a hard time grabbing it, having us go over the area again. However if your hair grows fast you typically want to have at least 1/4 of an inch or a grain of rice. If it's to short your service provider will have to reschedule your appointment.

What to do after your appointment?

Dramatic Dew Drops

Wait 24-48 hours after your appointment to exfoliate depending on your skins sensitivity. This is because your already being exfoliated during your service. When you over exfoliate it can cause your skin to become irritated or  create breakouts and ingrown hairs. Over exfoliating the skin can cause minor cuts on the skin allowing dirt, dust, sweat, bacteria ect. into the pores leading to bacteria filled ingrown hairs; Which later can become cystic.

Always avoid any activities that can cause you to sweat excessively. Your pores will remain open for 24 hours after your appointment and when your excessively sweating this will lead to going into the pores and creating bacteria filled ingrown hairs.

Taking care of your skin after any service is extremely important. Our skin is the largest organ we have and we want it to heal properly. This is why investing in GOOD skincare products is important.  When keeping up with Sugaring Hair Removal treatments it's best to purchase a good Ingrown Hair Serum as well as an Exfoliating Body Scrub. We have tried multiple companies and products to find the best fits for our clients!  After your treatment abstain from applying any products that aren't non-comedogenic (products should be labeled "comedogenic" or "non-comedogenic". Products that are comedogenic and applied less than 24 hours can result in irritation bumps and/or ingrown hairs. Ask us about our products next time you visit, we know you'll love them just as much as us!

It's a good idea to come to your appointment with fresh clothes to change into after. If your  your receiving a Brazilian or Manzilian bring fresh under garments to be safe. Nothing worse than ingrown hairs down there! But we  DO ADVISE wash your bed sheets and comforter the day of your appointment!!! We can not stress this enough. We have client's who do everything correct after an treatment but still get irritation bumps or bacteria filled ingrowns. Our bed sheets are filled with dead skin cells, dust, dirt, oils, fur; The list can go on forever! When your pores are open after your treatment and you lay in bed all these things are seeping into your pores!
